My mind was set on playing a fourth year with the Volants but then certain things happened which made me change my mind.

Hello Felix. We left you last year on an elimination in the first row of the play-off. Did it get to you,not going any further?

Felix CHOUGUI : It was a great dissapointement to be eliminated in the first round. We had a good team and had just finished a great regular season so of course we had higher hopes for the playoffs. I felt like we did not manage to play at our full capacity and when you don't do that good teams will take advantage of the situation. We had hoped to go much further and we were all disappointed that the season ended as early as it did.

You were with the "Français Volants Paris" for 3 seasons, you told “see you next season” to the supporters, and yet you have signed at Asnière s/S. What happened?

Felix CHOUGUI : I had 3 great years with The Volants and i had the chance to play with some great players and even greater human beings whom i consider to be my close friends but at the end i felt like i needed a new challenge and Asniers is the right place for me to bee at. Id like to clarify that i said "I hope to see you next year" and not "see you next year". At the time of that interview my mind was set on playing a fourth year with the Volants but then certain things happened which made me change my mind.

Do you have a message for the FVP supporters?

Felix CHOUGUI : Id like to thank you all for your support during my time with the club and i want you to know that I've really enjoyed playing in front of you during these years.

So you will stay in the Paris area by joining the Castors of Asniere s/S. Is it a family or a sports decision?

Felix CHOUGUI : Well i can't say that its a family decision because i don't have a family of my one yet but its a combination of the "on ice conditions" and the "of ice" conditions. I talked a lot with Bryant before signing the contract and he convinced me that Asniers goals and ambitions matched my own. They also presented me with a "living situation" which was preferable from the one i had, and as i said before i wanted to try something new which I'm happy to do in Asnieres.

Did the project and the ambition of Bryant Perrier convince you?

Felix CHOUGUI : Bryant is a passionate guy and i would say that it was his passion for the game and for how it should be played that convinced me. When he speaks about what he wants to do with this club and how he wants to do it its hard to not want to be a part of that journey. Bryant is a big reason why i signed with Asniers.

What are the next season objectives of Asniere?

Felix CHOUGUI : That is something I'm sure we will decide as a team when we meet in August and something we will keep inside the group unless coach wants it otherwise.

Did the fact that Bryant Perrier is an English-speaking person matter in your decision ?

Felix CHOUGUI : None what so ever. If i didn't like french-speaking people i would not live and play ice hockey in the capital of France.

What will be your status in the team, with players like the captain Guillaume Pfeiffer, Viktor Grendel, EmilienRouyer,whose are the offensive leaders?

Felix CHOUGUI : My goal is to contribute in every aspect of the game. For me the only thing that matters is winning and if the team needs me to block a shot or kill a penalty in order to win ill gladly do it. I hope of course to score some pointsaswell since that is the part of the game i think most players enjoy the most.

The Castors of Asniere also signed Marc-André L'Héreault, a young Canadian striker coming from Annecy in first division (20 points in 2012-2013 and 16 in 2013-2014). Aren’t you worried by an overwhelming competition at your post?

Felix CHOUGUI : The fact that a team has a lot of good players is only positive. To win games you need players who can put up points and the more players like that you have the more games you will win.Its as simple as that.

You are currently in holidays in your house in Sweden. When are you planning to get back on the ice and to start the training with the team?

Felix CHOUGUI : I haven't booked my flight yet but we have to be back in the middle of August so i will probably come back to Paris around the 10th of August. Im looking forward to getting back on the ice and to meet my new teammates.

Rencontre aujourd’hui avec un joueur que nous avons déjà pu interviewer l’an passé, Felix Chougui. Ce Suédois d’origine Algérienne a bien voulu répondre à nos questions depuis son pays natal, la Suède. Il a quitté les Français Volants de Paris pour les Castors d’Asnières cet été et il revient pour nous sur ce choix. Entretien.

Bonjour Félix, on vous a quitté la saison passée sur une élimination au 1^er tour des play-offs. Cela vous a-t-il touché?

Felix CHOUGUI : Ça a été une grosse déception d’être éliminé au premier tour. Nous avions une bonne équipe et sortions tout juste d’une excellente saison régulière donc évidemment nous avions de plus grandes ambitions pour ces play-offs. J’ai senti que nous n’avions pas réussi à jouer à 100% de nos capacités, et dans ces cas-là les bonnes équipes profitent de la situation. Nous avions l’espoir d’aller beaucoup plus loin et ce fût une déception pour tout le monde que la saison s’arrête si tôt.

Vous étiez aux Français Volants de Paris depuis trois saisons, vous disiez « à la saison prochaine » aux supporters du club et vous signez à Asnières sur Seine. Que s’est-il passé?

Felix CHOUGUI : J’ai passé trois excellentes années avec les Français Volants et j’ai eu la chance de jouer avec de grands joueurs et d’encore plus grandes personnes que je considère comme mes amis proches. Mais j’ai senti que j’avais besoin d’un nouveau challenge, et Asnières est pour moi le bon endroit où jouer. Je voudrais préciser que j’ai dit « J’espère vous voir l’année prochaine » et non pas « à l’année prochaine ». Au moment de l’interview, j’étais décidé à jouer une quatrième année avec les Volants, mais ensuite certaines choses se sont passées qui m’ont fait changer d’avis.

Avez-vous un message pour les supporters des Français Volants?

Felix CHOUGUI : Je voudrais remercier tout le monde pour votre soutien pendant mon passage au club, et je veux que vous sachiez que j’ai vraiment apprécié de jouer devant vous durant ces quelques années.

Vous allez donc rester en région Parisienne en rejoignant les Castors d’Asnières sur Seine. Est-ce un choix Sportif et / ou familiale?

Felix CHOUGUI : Je ne peux pas dire que c’est une décision familiale car je n’en ai pas encore mais c’est la combinaison de ce qui se passe sur la glace et en dehors. J’ai beaucoup parlé avec Bryant avant de signer mon nouveau contrat et il m’a convaincu que les objectifs d’Asnières correspondaient aux miens.

Ils m’ont également présenté une situation professionnelle qui était mieux que celle que j’avais, et comme je l’ai dit précédemment je voulais essayer quelque chose de nouveau, ce que je suis heureux de faire avec Asnières.

Le projet et l’ambition de Bryant Perrier à Asnières vous ont convaincus ?

Felix CHOUGUI : Bryant est un homme passionné, et j’aimerais dire que c’est sa passion pour le jeu et pour la manière dont il devrait être joué qui m’a convaincu. Quand il explique ce qu’il veut faire avec le club, et comment il veut le faire, il est difficile de ne pas vouloir faire partie du voyage. Bryant est la raison principale pour laquelle j’ai signé à Asnières.

Quels sont les objectifs du club d’Asnières sur Seine pour la saison prochaine?

Felix CHOUGUI : C’est une chose que nous déciderons ensemble en tant qu’équipe quand nous nous retrouverons en Août et que nous garderons entre nous à moins que l’entraineur n’en décide autrement.

Le fait que Bryant Perrier soit anglophone a-t-il joué dans votre prise de décision?

Felix CHOUGUI : D’aucune manière. Si je n’aimais pas les francophones, je ne vivrais pas et ne jouerais pas au Hockey sur glace dans la capitale de la France.

Quel sera votre rôle dans l’équipe autours de joueurs comme Guillaume Pfeiffer (Capitaine), Viktor Grendel et Emilien Rouyer les leaders d’attaque?

Felix CHOUGUI :Mon objectif est de contribuer à tous les aspects du jeu. A mes yeux, la seule chose qui compte c’est la victoire, et si pour ça mon équipe a besoin que je bloque un tir ou que je tue une pénalité, alors je le ferai volontiers. J’espère également marquer quelques points puisque c’est la partie du Hockey que la plupart des joueurs aiment le plus.

Les Castors d’Asnières ont également fait signer Marc-André L'Héreault, un jeune attaquant Canadien en provenance d’Annecy en D1 (20 points en 2012 / 2013 et 16 et 2013 / 2014). N’avez-vous pas peur qu’il y ait trop de concurrence à votre poste?

Felix CHOUGUI : Le fait qu’une équipe ait beaucoup de bons joueurs est uniquement positif. Pour gagner des matchs vous avez besoin de joueurs qui sont capables de marquer des points, et plus vous avez de joueurs qui marquent plus vous gagnez de matchs. C’est aussi simple que ça.

Vous êtes actuellement en vacances chez vous en Suède, quand allez-vous reprendre la direction de la glace et de la préparation avec les Castors d’Asnières?

Felix CHOUGUI : Je n’ai pas encore réservé mon billet d’avion mais nous devons être rentrés pour la mi-août. Je rentrerai donc à Paris autour du 10 août. Je suis impatient de revenir sur la glace et de rencontrer mes nouveaux équipiers.
